Dr. Hugo Centomo is an orthopaedic surgeon with advanced subspecialty training in orthopedic trauma and a Ph.D. in kinesiology with a specialization in biomechanics. He obtained both his medical degree and his Ph.D. from the Université de Montréal, and completed additional doctoral training at Université Joseph Fourier in Grenoble, France.

After earning his medical degree in 2012, Dr. Centomo completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Université de Montréal, followed by a fellowship in orthopedic trauma surgery at LAC+USC / Keck Hospital, University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He is certified by both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA).

Dr. Centomo’s clinical interests focus on complex orthopedic trauma cases, particularly complications such as mal-unions (bone deformities), non-unions (fractures with healing difficulties), and chronic bone infections. He also performs surgeries on the shoulder (rotator cuff repair), knee (total and unicompartmental joint replacements), ankle (post-sprain conditions), and foot (e.g., bunion correction).

Currently serving as Head of the Surgical Department at CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l'Île-de-Montréal, Dr. Centomo is known for his multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach. His practice emphasizes optimal outcomes through collaboration and a deep understanding of biomechanics and rehabilitation.
