Dr. Artin Mahdanian is a board-certified psychiatrist with international training and a deep interest in integrative pain medicine and psychosomatic care. He holds certifications from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and is licensed to practice in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K.
Dr. Mahdanian earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences and later completed a Master of Science in Psychiatry Research, followed by a Psychiatry Residency at McGill University. His residency included a research internship at the World Health Organization in Geneva and the Centre for Global Mental Health in London. He also completed a Clinical Postdoctoral Fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University.
His academic and professional journey has been complemented by ongoing training in various psychotherapeutic approaches—including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Existential Therapy. Dr. Mahdanian integrates these into what he calls Dynamic Eclectic Existential Psycho-pharmaco-therapy (DEEP), a patient-centered approach tailored for individuals living with complex psychiatric and chronic pain conditions.
At Clinique DouleurMD, he provides psychiatric consultations for patients suffering from chronic pain, blending mental health expertise with a deep commitment to compassionate, human-centered care. He has authored over 20 scientific publications and contributed to two major World Health Organization guidelines.
